Aberystwyth: Celebrating St Padarn (Newsletter 2)

From David Greaney, Chair of St Padarn working group:

I attach a newsletter written by Gweithgor Padarn Sant (Saint Padarn Working Group), a group established last year in the Parish of Aberystwyth in order to organise celebrations for this year, commemorating the arrival, in about AD 517, of St Padarn in Ceredigion.  Our first event (in January) was a great success and was reported in the ‘Around the Parishes‘ supplement of The Catholic Universe on 3 February.

One of the events in April is the day retreat of Y Cylch Catholig.  This event closes with Mass, in Welsh, at the Church of Saint Padarn (a Parish Church of the Church in Wales), in Llanbadarn Fawr, Ceredigion. The Celebrant will be Bishop Emeritus Edwin Regan. There has been a place of Christian worship on this site for nearly 1,500 years (established by Padarn) and, as far as we know, there has not been a Catholic Mass celebrated here in nearly 5 centuries.  We hope that you might be able to make use of the newsletter, or parts of it, to draw the attention of the Catholics of the Diocese to this historical event (and to the others).
